Hua Hin is situated about 230 km south of Bangkok, about 3 hours drive, situated opposite Pattaya in the Gulf of Thailand. The town isn't as lively as Bangkok or Pattaya. So for those who want a more tranquil and quiet atmosphere, surrounded in a more traditional Thai ambience, then Hua Hin is a more suitable place for you.
Hua Hin is Thailand's oldest seaside holiday town and has had connections with the Royal Family since the 18 hundreds. The royal connection started in 1868 when King Mongkut travelled here to view a total eclipse of the sun.
Hua Hin can be visited all year round. It has a tropical climate with a high humidity and moderate rainfalls in the wet season from August to October. The warm season starts from November to April, many people believe this is the best time to visit Hua Hin. The weather can be dry with occasional rains from May to July. Weather can be hot during the day but cooled by the sea breeze.
